Q. WHAT IS DIBS?
A: DiBs is a not-for-profit organisation comprising a powerful community of sports business professionals from diverse backgrounds. It is committed to increasing diversity in the sports business.
Q. WHAT IS THE DIBS MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME?
A: The mentorship programme aims to turbocharge the careers of selected mentees through a structured six-month-long mentoring programme led by senior sports business professionals. The programme is free of charge and open to mentees from all over the world, as all formal sessions are held on Zoom.
Q. WHO IS THIS PROGRAMME FOR?
A: The programme is targeted at people from Black, Asian, or other underrepresented minority backgrounds who are typically at or near the start of their sports business careers. This allows them to take full advantage of the experience of the programme mentors, who typically have 10+ years of experience. Additionally, the programme is aimed at people who are committed to the sports business and who will contribute to and be good citizens of the DiBS community.
Q. WHAT DOES THE PROGRAMME ENTAIL?
A: Each mentee is matched with an individual mentor, and they have regular 1:1s throughout the programme. Mentors are senior industry professionals from diverse backgrounds who share a passion and commitment to working with and mentoring aspiring individuals. All mentees also meet monthly for group sessions with one or two mentors to discuss specific industry or professional development topics. These are great opportunities to get to know the other mentees and mentors and to build connections with other members of the DiBS community. Additionally, from time to time, ad-hoc events are run, allowing all members of the DiBS community to meet up in person.
